(c) 2002 BMO

Dr. Rupashree Balia Singh
Postdoctoral Fellow
 Research Interests:

  • Study of Excited State Intramolecular Proton Transfer (ESIPT) and Intramolecular Charge Transfer (ICT) reactions in different synthesized organic chromophores with introduction of functional groups at crucial positions in condensed media using steady state absorption and emission and time resolved emission spectroscopy in the picosecond range.
  • Use of Gaussian 03 and Gamess software for the theoretical estimation of ground and excited state optimized geometry, evaluation of potential energy surfaces, determination of barrier heights for the transformation processes investigated experimentally etc.
  • Observation of modification in the photophysics of molecular systems upon encapsulation in Confined Cavities of micelles, reverse micelles, cyclodextrins and proteins and their successful use as probes for studying the complicated process of protein unfolding and determination of micropolarity of proteinous and micellar environments etc. using simple fluorimetric approaches.
  • At BMO, I am involved in working with Noncollinearly Phase Matched Optical Parametric amplifiers (NOPAs) extending the concept of spatial confinement in studying bimolecular reactions (organic polar reactions) under spatial confinement in specially designed capped mesoporous systems using femtosecond pump probe experiments.
