Abstract: In neutral and acidic aqueous solutions containing 2 mol L−1 of Cl−, the decay of the solvated electron and the formation of ClOH.− and Cl2.− were studied by picosecond pulse radiolysis experiment. The rate constant for the reaction of eS- and H3O+ is 1.3 × 1010 L mol−1 radical at 100 ps is estimated to be 5.0 × 10−7 mol J−1.
